Jamie Hickman - Army Excellence in Defense, Education, and Service
Through decades of service in the Army, Dr. Jamie Hickman built a reputation for strategic leadership, organizational excellence, and professional development. Dr. Hickman's extensive Army experience has been complemented by advanced academic and professional fellowships, including the Army Data-Driven Leadership Fellowship through Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College, the Risk Management for Corporate Leaders Fellowship at Harvard Business School, the Cyber and National Security Studies Fellowship through Indiana University, and the Industry-Based Broadening Logistics Fellowship with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Previously serving as executive officer for the Missile Defense Agency, Dr. Hickman provided senior-level support on strategic planning, operational coordination, and missile defense initiatives. She currently serves as an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus, where she teaches leadership, operations, and career development courses. In addition, she is a research consultant for the University of Chicago's Office of Military-Affiliated Communities, supporting research and policy efforts that enhance outcomes for military-connected populations.
Dr. Hickman's distinguished record of service has earned her numerous honors, including the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, four Meritorious Service Medals, the Army Aviation Association of America Order of St. Michael, and the Quartermaster Order of Saint Martin. Her commitment to service extends beyond the military to include volunteer leadership and community engagement, recognized by multiple Presidential Volunteer Service Awards and the Martin Luther King Jr. Service Award.
A member of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, Dr. Hickman also serves on a Institutional Review Board and as vice chair of the Adjunct Faculty Association at UMGC. Through her work in defense, education, research, and public service, she continues to make a lasting impact on organizations and communities across the United States.
